In short
- This site sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
- It loads nothing from other companies: no fonts, scripts, embeds or ads. Links to GitHub only take you there when you click them.
- It counts visits with LogSure, our own analytics, without keeping your IP address.
- If you ask for pricing, we keep what you send and use it only to reply.
Hosting
The site and the LogSure server behind it run on our own server, at Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, in a data centre in Germany. To deliver a page, the server necessarily receives your IP address, the page you ask for, your browser's User-Agent and the time. We do not keep access logs of these requests.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is delivering the site securely and reliably.
Cloudflare
Requests to this site pass through Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, which acts as a content delivery network and protects the site against attacks. Cloudflare sees your IP address and the request itself, processes them on our behalf, and passes us the country your request came from. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as providing adequate protection for transfers to the USA.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is a fast, available and secure site.
Analytics
Every page loads the LogSure tracker from this site's own address. It sets no cookies and uses no local storage or similar technology on your device. When you open a page it sends:
- the page's address (only the host, the path and any
utm_campaign parameters are kept) and the host of the site that sent you, if any; - your screen width and browser language.
Your IP address and your browser's User-Agent are used only in memory: to tell the kind of device, browser and operating system, and to form a visitor code. The visitor code is a hash of a random value, this site's id, your IP address and your User-Agent. The random value changes every day (UTC) and is then deleted, also from backups, so the code cannot be traced back to you or linked across days. The IP address and the User-Agent are never written anywhere. The country comes from Cloudflare.
What is stored per visit: the visitor code, the pages, the referring host, campaign parameters, the country, the device type, browser, operating system and language, and the time. These records are deleted after 750 days.
The page at /_care/ shows exactly what the analytics receive and keep, generated from the settings the server runs with.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is understanding how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it, and protecting it against abuse. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, no consent is needed under § 25 of the German TDDDG.
The pricing form
If you ask for pricing, we keep what you send: your email address, the plan you ask about, and your name, company, company size and what you need if you give them. With it we keep the page you sent it from, the country Cloudflare reports and the time. It is stored in our LogSure server as a signup on a list named "pricing". Email addresses are encrypted at rest.
We use it only to reply to you and to discuss what you asked about. We do not send newsletters to it, share it or sell it. It stays until you ask us to delete it, or until we delete it ourselves once the conversation is over.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for steps before a possible contract that you asked for, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is answering your inquiry.
A hidden field in the form catches automated spam; anything that fills it is discarded. The server also limits how many requests one address can send in a short time, using the IP address only in memory.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16), erased (Art. 17) or restricted (Art. 18), to receive it in a portable format (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Write to .
Analytics data cannot be tied to a person, because the visitor code cannot be traced back once its day is over. For the pricing form, we find everything stored for your email address and can send it to you or erase it.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU member state where you live, work or where you think the infringement happened. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.
